He founded and led the UK’s first multi-agency street gangs taskforce, earning UK Government praise for significant reductions in gang crime and an international problem-solving award shortlisting (University of Wisconsin).
Post-policing, John has designed and delivered specialist training in counter-terrorism, organised crime and senior leadership in the Middle East and Caribbean, while undertaking sensitive, security-vetted projects for the UK Home Office and UK Health Security Agency.

He started at 18 in the Royal Regiment of Artillery, serving 10 years with two operational tours in Northern Ireland (1980s), the second as section commander. In 1993, he joined Merseyside Police, progressing through uniformed patrol, specialist support (public order, search, anti-terrorist), neighbourhood duties, and detective work on serious crime in Liverpool.
In 2005, he served in the Royal Cayman Islands Police Drug Task Force Marine Unit, managing patrols to secure territorial waters. From 2011, he led maritime security teams protecting merchant vessels in the Indian Ocean and delivered UK security contracts. He also mentored high-net-worth clients as a Sober Guardian and Life Coach across the UK and Africa.
